terms of use
Last updated June 21, 2026
01 // Acceptance
By accessing or using BuildMTB (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
02 // What BuildMTB Is
BuildMTB is an informational build-planning and compatibility tool for mountain bikes. It helps you plan builds, compare parts, and connect with partner shops. It is a planning aid — not professional mechanical, safety, or purchasing advice.
03 // Compatibility & Fitment Disclaimer
Compatibility results, weights, and specifications are estimates generated from catalog data and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always confirm fitment, torque specs, and safety-critical details with the part manufacturer and a qualified mechanic before purchasing, installing, or riding. You are solely responsible for the parts you buy and how your bike is assembled and maintained. Riding a mountain bike carries inherent risk of injury or death.
The SHRED_LOGIC AI advisor generates responses using a large language model and live web sources. Its suggestions are informational only and may contain errors. Do not rely on AI-generated output for safety-critical decisions without independent verification.
04 // Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for your login credentials and all activity under your account. The free tier permits up to three saved builds and two saved bikes; paid tiers unlock additional features as described at sign-up.
05 // Affiliate Links & Pricing
Prices shown are pulled from third-party retailers and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate — always confirm the final price at checkout on the retailer's site. BuildMTB participates in affiliate programs and may earn commissions on qualifying purchases made through outbound links at no extra cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.
06 // Pro Build / Local Shop
Pro Build connects you with independent partner shops. BuildMTB facilitates the request and payment hand-off but does not perform the mechanical work and is not responsible for labor or services provided by third-party shops. Your arrangement is between you and the shop. BuildMTB does not warrant the quality or safety of work performed by partner shops.
07 // Acceptable Use
Don't misuse the Service: no scraping, reverse engineering, automated querying beyond normal use, disrupting the platform, or using it to violate the law or infringe others' rights. Abuse may result in account termination.
08 // Intellectual Property
The Service, its design, and its original content are owned by BuildMTB or its licensors. Brand names and part specifications remain the property of their respective manufacturers. Nothing in these Terms transfers any IP rights to you.
09 // Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, BuildMTB disclaims all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BuildMTB's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the six months preceding the claim. BuildMTB is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from your reliance on compatibility results, pricing data, AI-generated advice, or third-party shops.
10 // Dispute Resolution & Arbitration
Informal resolution first. Before initiating any formal dispute, contact us at hello@buildmtb.com with a written description of the dispute. We'll try to resolve it within 30 days.
Binding arbitration. If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service — including its arbitrability — shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, conducted in English on a documents-only basis unless either party requests a hearing. The seat of arbitration is California. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class action waiver. You and BuildMTB each waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration. Claims must be brought individually.
Exceptions. Either party may seek emergency injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm pending arbitration. Claims within the jurisdiction of small claims court are excluded.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
11 // Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
